Nakata joins Bolton | World Soccer

Bolton have secured the loan signing of Japan midfielder Hidetoshi Nakata, subject to international clearance.

The 28-year-old Japanese international, who has played in Italy for the last six years, will move to the Reebok Stadium on a season-long loan deal.

Allardyce told Bolton’s website: “I’m pleased the deal is sorted. His medical was fine and we now have a work permit.

“He is an exciting acquisition for us and will add strength to our midfield.

“His focus and belief in himself and his talent will be a great addition for us in the Premiership. His focus is only to play Premiership football.”

“He wants to be a major success for us and prove he is a good, good player in the Premier League,” he added.

“We want to get him in amongst the lads as quickly as possible.

“Hopefully he can adapt pretty quickly and become a major success,” he said.

“He is a very accomplished player and has got a lot of experience of European football as well as with the national team.”

“We will have something like 14 nationalities in the dressing room with Nakata and five different religions. There will be a fantastic menu in the canteen!

“But, in all seriousness, I’m pretty excited about this young man.”

Nakata had previously played for Roma, Parma, Perugia and Bologna before joining Fiorentina.

Allardyce said he hoped to gradually introduce Nakata to the Premiership.

Nakata said: “I am very pleased to begin a new experience in the Premier League.

“I look forward to being part of Bolton Wanderers and to start playing in a season that will be very important for the team and for myself.”
